On March 30, the Jinan Institute of Quantum Technology at the Secretariat of the Standards Committee organized the kick-off meeting and the first working meeting of the national standard "Quantum Computing Terms and Definitions". The meeting was chaired by Zhu Xiaobo, Professor of the University of Science and Technology of China and convener of the Work Group. Zhang Qiang, Secretary-General of the Standards Committee, attended the meeting and gave a speech. Twenty expert representatives from 10 institutions including the National University of Defense Technology, the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the China National Institute of Standardization attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Secretary-General Zhang Qiang proposed clear requirements for the preparation of the foreign language version of the national standards and the improvement of the quality of standard compilation, and thanked the drafting Work Group for their support to the development of national standards. Professor Zhu Xiaobo introduced the background of the standard project and the basis of the preliminary work. The experts at the meeting discussed the contents of the various chapters of the drafted standards, actively put forward suggestions for improvement, and agreed on the next work plan, laying a solid foundation for the high-quality and efficient completion of the national standard compilation work.
The national standard "Quantum Computing Terms and Definitions" (proposed number: 20203857-T-469) is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee 578 on Quantum Computing and Metrology of Standardization Administration of China. It is the first national standard project in the field of quantum computing, and aims to establish a conceptual system for the core terms and frequently-used terms in the field of quantum computing, clarify term definitions, and fill the gaps in standards in this field. Next, the Standards Committee will continue to carry out international and domestic related standardization work in combination with the development of science and technology and industries in the field of quantum computing and quantum precision measurement, and fully leverage the basic, leading and supporting role of standardization in scientific and technological innovation, and help the quantum scientific research and development and industrialization development in China.
