The First International Standard Organization for Quantum Information in All Fields Settles in Jinan
News from Jinan, October 13. October 14 is World Standards Day. Not long ago, on September 27 (Geneva time), our province just seized a "fortress point" in the world's standardization territory. On the same day, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) reviewed and approved the establishment of the "Focus Group on Quantum Information Technology for Networks" proposed by the Chinese delegation. Jinan Institute of Quantum Technology is one of the main members of the Chinese delegation. As the only site in China for the national technical committee for standardization of quantum information technology, our province's goal of building a world-class quantum information science center and a strategic high ground for the development of the global quantum information industry also ushered in huge opportunities.
The first "Focus Group" was chaired by Zhang Qiang, Executive Dean of Jinan Institute of Quantum Technology and Secretary-General of the National Technical Committee on Quantum Computing and Metrology of Standardization Administration of China. He introduced that, this is the first of the world’s three major international standardization organizations (ISOIECITU) to cover the entire field of quantum information, which has further established China's international standard voice and leading position in the field of quantum information technology.
Earlier this year, the National Technical Committee on Quantum Computing and Metrology of Standardization Administration of China was officially established after being approved. Jinan Institute of Quantum Technology assumed the secretariat work of the Committee, coordinated China's top quantum scientific research team, and carried out the formulation and revision of national standards for quantum computing and quantum measurement technology. “Under this premise, the establishment of the 'Focus Group' means that with this opportunity, we can effectively gather the power of experts in the the field of quantum technology in the world, fully leverage the leading role of standardization in the quantum information technology industry, and help our province build the world-class quantum information scientific center and the strategic high ground for the development of the global quantum information industry." Guo Dalei, the second-level inspector of the Shandong Administration for Market Regulation, said.
"As the universal language of the world, standards are called the ‘passport’ of international trade. When entering the stage of high-quality development, accelerating the internationalization of the ‘Shandong Standards’ is of extraordinary significance." Guo Dalei said that in recent years, the internationalization of standards in Shandong Province has entered the fast lane. Since last year, the number of proposals and formulations of international standards by Shandong enterprises has increased by 24%. At present, the number of international standards led by enterprises in our province has reached 126, and more and more enterprises have become the "setters" of industrial rules, grasp the "right to speak" in the market, and become the "leaders" of the industry.
While the number of international standards has grown through a breakthrough, our province has set its sights on the standard "manufacturing workshop"- the Technical Committee for Standardization. Based on local advantages and highlighting the characteristics of Shandong, we have successfully introduced the "Secretariat of Foundry Machinery Technical Committee" of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to settle in Shandong, creating conditions for Shandong's superior industries and related enterprises to enter the international market. This time, the successful establishment of the "Focus Group on Quantum Information Technology for Networks" has also enabled our province to seize the opportunity in the field of quantum information technology development.
